Utility Service Connection Procedures
The City of Marshall Utility Billing Department provides utility billing services for the City owned and operated which are Electirc, Gas, Water, and Sewer.
To establish a new utility account with the City, a minimum notification of 24 hours is required. 24-hours notice is also required to stop existing service.
New customers moving to the area are required to provide proof of ownership and pay a security deposit at the Utility Billing Department located at City Hall, 201 S. Michigan Avenue. At the time a renter places their deposit, a signed copy of his/her lease agreement must be presented. Proof of ownership documentation in the form of closing settlement papers or a warranty deed is also required.
To close your utility account, you must notify the Utility Billing Department at least 24 hours in advance. All deposits on account are applied to your final utility bill. Any remaining balance on the account will be sent to your forwarding address, which you must provide when closing your account.
